Shopify B2B & wholesale setup

Wholesale on Shopify fails in one of two ways: the trade route is a contact form nobody answers, or the consumer store is bent out of shape with hidden prices and login walls that scare off retail shoppers. The right setup gives stockists, studios and interior designers their own way in — pricing, minimums and catalogue — without touching what consumers see.

GooGoGoGo sets up B2B and wholesale on Shopify: trade and wholesale pages, structured enquiry flows, wholesale pricing and quantity rules, customer-specific catalogues, and the account and checkout configuration that makes reordering easy. Four client stores on this site run a wholesale or trade route alongside retail.

What a wholesale route has to get right

Trade buyers are not consumers with a bigger basket. They reorder, they need paperwork, and they judge you on how easy you are to buy from.

  • A visible, separate route. A trade or wholesale page that a stockist can find, that explains terms, and that leads to an enquiry or an account — not a consumer store with a hidden price list.
  • Enquiry that collects the right things. Volumes, location, timing, references: a structured form that lets the first reply be a quote instead of a clarification.
  • Pricing and minimums that enforce themselves. Wholesale prices, minimum quantities and case packs applied by customer, not by asking the buyer to remember a code.
  • Catalogues per customer. Some lines are trade-only, some retail-only. The catalogue a buyer sees should be theirs.
  • Reordering in two taps. Order history, quick reorder and saved details — the features that keep a stockist ordering from you instead of a distributor.
  • Consumer store untouched. Retail shoppers should never meet a login wall, a hidden price or a B2B form.

How we build it

We build the wholesale route as its own flow and connect it to Shopify’s B2B features where the plan allows.

  • Trade pages and enquiry flows. MINNA ran trade and wholesale pages inside a homeware store; Nata Concept Store has wholesale and custom enquiry forms; Viva Barre has a wholesale enquiry flow for studios; HAOMA has a wholesale page alongside retail.
  • Pricing and rules by customer. Company accounts, price lists, quantity rules and payment terms configured on Shopify B2B where the plan supports it, or built with customer tags and discount logic where it does not.
  • Catalogue control. Trade-only and retail-only products and collections handled at the catalogue level, so nobody sees a price they should not.
  • Reorder-friendly accounts. Order history, quick reorder and saved company details, tested as a buyer would use them.
  • A first concept before any deposit. You see the plan before committing.

When this is not the right fit

If you have three stockists and they email you, a good trade page and a clear PDF price list are enough. Build the wholesale route when reorders, terms and catalogue differences are taking real time every week.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Shopify Plus for B2B?

Shopify’s native B2B features — company accounts, price lists, payment terms — are a Plus feature. On other plans we build wholesale with customer tags, discount logic, separate collections and a structured enquiry flow, which covers most small and mid-size brands well.

Can wholesale and retail run on the same store?

Yes, and that is usually the right answer: one catalogue, one inventory, with wholesale pricing and catalogue visibility applied by customer. A separate wholesale store is worth it only when the operations genuinely differ.

How do you hide wholesale prices from retail shoppers?

By applying wholesale pricing to logged-in trade customers only and keeping trade-only products out of retail collections and search. Retail visitors see a normal store.

Can you build a stockist enquiry form that actually qualifies leads?

Yes. Structured fields for business type, volumes, location and timing, sent to your inbox and stored, so you reply with a quote rather than questions.

What does a wholesale setup cost?

A trade page and enquiry flow sit in the $500–1.5k band; full B2B configuration with price lists, catalogues and accounts in $1.5k–4k. Scope is set on a free first call.

Can you add wholesale to a store you did not build?

Yes. Wholesale is added to existing stores more often than it is built into new ones.
