One letter for your storefront — and the five checks it was built from.
We run five of our single-purpose checks against your storefront — crawler access, catalogue attributes, consent wiring, image and LCP markup, review structured data — score each one separately, and weight them into a single grade. Every dimension that loses points links straight to the tool that explains it line by line.
Based on publicly available data only. Informational, not legal advice.
What this checks
- Store-level blockers first: a password page in front of the storefront, a robots.txt rule covering the home page for the default crawler group, a noindex on the home page
- AI visibility — whether crawlers are admitted, and whether the discovery files are there (SpiderCheck)
- AI readiness — whether your product data carries the attributes an assistant would quote (AICatalog)
- Consent wiring — which trackers' code is on the page, and which cookies come back with the first response, before anyone clicks accept (ConsentProbe)
- Image and LCP markup on the home page and one product page, plus the size those images report (ImageLCP)
- Review structured data on the product pages we open (StarSnippet)
- A weighted grade, plus how much of it rests on data we could actually verify
FAQ
Is this a full audit of my store?
No, and the report says so out loud. It is five automated checks on public pages, reading a sample: one home page, one robots.txt, a handful of product pages, one moment in time. Checkout, payments, shipping and tax setup, inventory, customer service, returns, pricing, your legal entity and real-user speed data are all outside it. A good grade here means every check those five tools could run came back clear — nothing more.
Where do the weights come from?
From our studio's judgement, and the report prints every number so you can disagree with it. There is no industry standard for this and we did not derive it from a dataset. The reasoning is simple: a store-level blocker outranks everything because it makes the other four moot, discovery outranks catalogue depth because a page a crawler may not fetch cannot be quoted from, and review markup sits last because it is the cheapest of the five to fix. Only those store-level items work as a veto — a severe item inside one of the five dimensions is scored like any other check in that dimension, which is why you should read the dimension lines and not only the letter.
One of the dimensions says 'not measured'. Did it fail?
No. A dimension we could not verify is left out of the grade entirely — it is never scored as zero and never quietly dropped. The card shows how many dimensions were measured, and when fewer than half the weight could be verified the grade is withheld rather than published as a number nobody can stand behind. The same applies one level down: a dimension line that says '9 checks passed and 1 could not be checked' is telling you the tenth was never answered, not that it was fine.
Want the items that cost you points actually fixed? We work the failed lines on this card in weight order — blockers first, then whichever dimension is dragging the grade down.
We are a Shopify studio. The audit is free; the fix is yours to make — or ours to ship.
