Shopify design & development for beauty and skincare brands

Beauty is a replenishment business sold on proof. The product page has to answer skin type, ingredients, order of use and results before the customer leaves to search for them — and then keep that customer with a subscription that feels like a convenience, not a trap. Fragrance adds its own problem: the product cannot be shown at all, so samples and language do the selling.

GooGoGoGo builds Shopify stores for skincare, hair care, body care and fragrance brands: product pages built around proof and routine, subscribe-and-save, sets and bundles, sample builders, and storefronts that run in several languages and currencies. Five of the client stores on this site are beauty or fragrance brands.

What a beauty store has to get right

The pattern repeats across skincare, hair care and fragrance: the product page does the whole job, and the second order is where the margin lives.

  • Proof before the ask. Reviews, before-and-after imagery presented honestly, practitioner or dermatologist endorsement where it exists, full ingredient lists. All of it near the price, not on a separate page.
  • The routine, not the product. Skincare sells as a sequence. Pages that show what goes with what — and let the customer buy the set — convert better and raise order value without discounting.
  • Subscription that respects the customer. Clear intervals, an obvious one-off option, easy pause and cancel. Subscription retention comes from the product, not from friction.
  • Samples and discovery for fragrance. A sample-set builder and note-by-note writing are how fragrance is bought online. Both need structure in the theme, not a paragraph and a hope.
  • Regulatory copy that is easy to keep right. Ingredient lists, claims and warnings change; they should live in structured fields the team can edit without touching layout.
  • Markets for where the brand sells. Beauty brands go international early. Languages, currencies and country-specific pricing need to be designed in, not retrofitted.

How we build it

We start with the product page and the repeat purchase, then build the storefront around them.

  • Product pages as a proof system. Reviews block, FAQ per product, ingredients and routine components designed together and reused across the range.
  • Subscriptions built into the theme. Subscribe-and-save on the product page with clear intervals, and cart and account flows that make managing a subscription obvious.
  • Bundles, sets and add-ons. Sets priced as sets, paid add-ons on the product page, cross-sell by routine — the mechanics that raise order value without a coupon.
  • Markets and languages. Shopify Markets with translated content, hreflang, and currency per country; Oway runs five languages and thirty countries on one store.
  • A first concept before any deposit. You see a real design direction before committing to a build.

When this is not the right fit

If the range is one hero product with no subscription and no international ambition, a configured theme plus strong photography gets you most of the way. We are the right call when the routine, the subscription or the markets are the business.

Frequently asked questions

Do you set up subscribe-and-save on Shopify?

Yes. HAOMA runs subscribe-and-save intervals on its product pages alongside one-off pricing, with reviews and FAQ blocks per product. We build the selection into the theme so it is part of the product page, not a widget floating over it.

Can you build a sample-set or discovery-set builder?

Yes. D.S. & DURGA’s store has a four-slot sample-set builder that adds the set as one cart line, alongside note-by-note perfume pages. The same pattern works for skincare minis and travel sizes.

How do you handle multiple languages for a beauty brand?

Through Shopify Markets, with content translated per product and hreflang declared per language–country pair. Oway runs Italian, English, French, German and Spanish across about thirty countries on one store.

Which review platform do you recommend?

Whichever your team will actually run. We have integrated Okendo, Judge.me and Yotpo on client stores; the platform matters less than where the reviews sit on the page and whether they load fast.

What does a beauty store build cost?

Focused work — subscriptions, a product-page system — in the $500–1.5k band; a tailored storefront in $1.5k–4k; full strategy, design and development at $4k+. Scope is set before build.

Can you work on our existing store rather than rebuild?

Yes, and for beauty that is often the right move: product page, subscription flow and bundles can be rebuilt inside the theme you have. We recommend a rebuild only when the theme itself is the constraint.
